The Brief

Awen Cultural Trust run B-Leaf and Wood-B, two programmes that offer hands-on, work-based learning opportunities in horticulture, grounds maintenance, and carpentry for adults with learning disabilities.

Awen wanted us to produce a video to show at their celebration event, which would host friends and family of Wood-B and B-Leaf course members, as well as showcase the progress and results to various stakeholders and project investors.

The main aim was to show that adults engaged in these programmes gain independence and learn new skills, including social skills, with an end goal of securing them work placements.

The Story We Told

We had a captive audience for this video at the celebration evening, and so we were able to produce a slightly longer-form video. This fit with Awen's desire to both showcase as many of the supporting services as possible, and also reward investors and stakeholders for their commitment to the projects by giving them an emotional payoff.

We understood that it was important to not just show how the projects work, but why they work. That's why we structured the video to include a case study section, showing a course member actively involved in the real-world workplace, including a testimonial from their employer.

The final video hopes to capture the heart behind these programmes, and the special caring relationship between the course members and all the volunteers and staff involved.

"Professional, reliable, and really easy to work with – I’d happily recommend Hammerspace."
