DS Smith
The brief was simple: Visualise how we use data.
The problem... what does that look like?
Our discovery call with the Communications Lead and the key C-suite stakeholder found the answer.
The C-suite exec had a single, four-second clip they'd filmed on their phone at a conference they'd attended. Something playing on a screen that they liked.
"We need something like this."
No problem.
The story was that DS Smith collect internal operations data, and use it to make informed decisions that ultimately benefit their customers.
Starting with our four-second reference clip, we researched relevant video production visuals, and based final look on plexus grids, tracked info points, energy infrastructure infographics, and the film Tron!
The video production story structure was based on a duck swimming.
Act 1: Beginning. The calm above the water. DS Smith business operations (who we are)
Act 2: Middle: The duck's legs below the water. We introduce data lines and pop-out info points laid over business operations visuals. We see what's driving the business (where our data comes from)
Act 3: End: X-ray the duck. We hit a sequence of data overlays, and end by dropping the business visuals away, leaving just the data lines forming a path forwards (how we use data to benefit customers)
Designed for industry on-stage speaking events, the video needed to work both with and without sound, so we produced two versions. One longer, with music and voice-over. The second a shorter, silent super-cut of just the data visuals. Like what our exec saw and liked.
This project allowed DS Smith to position themselves as experts and tech leaders at relevant industry engagement events, and gave them a solid tool to fall back on when engaging with their audience at future expos.
Professional, reliable, and really easy to work with – I’d happily recommend Hammerspace.
