Bakery

When we first launched Hammerspace Video, Blaenau Gwent Council introduced us to Domenico of La Mediterranea. A local artisan baker, Dom was looking for a video to show his baking process, and advertise his market stall.

It's impossible not to be taken in by Dom's charisma and passion, both for baking and for life. When we met Dom, were in the very early stages of launching Hammerspace Video, and we had a habit of shooting interviews for too long! We were just enamoured with talking to new people and learning about their lives and experiences, and were giddy to be making films for our job... two things which are still true today!

Dom graciously dealt with our zealous enthusiasm, and sat with us for a 45 minute interview. While the final video is barely two minutes long, this extended time talking together allowed us to go in-depth with Dom on his childhood, his journey from Italy to the UK, and his philosophy for baking. This insight was massively influential on the final film, and his passion and connection comes through both on-screen and his bakery's products.
